Managing PMS and PMDD

Many women experience pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS), but when pre-menstrual symptoms interfere with daily life, pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) may be suspected. Are PMS and PMDD different severities of the same condition, or are these conditions distinct? How can physicians assess their female patients with pre-menstrual symptoms, and what are some of the novel, available treatments for both PMS and PMDD?

Ellen Freeman, research professor and director of the human behavior and reproduction unit in obstetrics/gynecology, and the Premenstrual Syndrome Research Program at Penn Medicine, joins host Dr. Lee Freedman to discuss the spectrum of pre-menstrual conditions.
